My Greatest Inspiration
My father has always been an important influence in my life, whether through being a role model for success, or a mentor in my life. He has been there to guide me in making the great choices that would benefit me. He has been the push in my life that has helped me to move forward in making the choice to pursue a higher education after high school. He got his Bachelor’s degree in business and marketing and I plan to pursue business as well, more specifically, accounting. During my junior year in high school I had the privilege to take a business course at my school in which I received insight and information into the world of accounting as well as a high grade in the nineties.
Most of my life I have been a musician though, so you may ask why I chose to become an accountant. Well, the first reason is because I really do enjoy it. The second is that many musicians in my life have told me to find something in which I can be stable, so that I will not have to chase dollars as a struggling musician. Instead, I will be counting them as an accountant. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, I plan to attain a Master’s degree in accounting and become a C.P.A. (Certified Public Accountant).
One example of how my father has modeled good work ethic in my life was the day I was exhausted from a hard day at marching band practice and was considering to neglect my studies. Just before I was about to go to sleep for the night, I thought about how my father spends endless hours on his job as Director of Sales at his company to provide for our family. I thought about the times when work would eat into his leisure time and how he still gave his best effort. With this in mind, I decided to stay up and study. This resulted in my receiving the only one-hundred percent grade for the math test the next day. I received the highest mark while many of the class had failing grades, all because I studied hard like my father.
